About Weld-Fab Custom.

Proud Indigenous Small Family Business Servicing the Geelong and Bellarine Region

Weld-Fab Custom is an Aboriginal-owned and -operated welding and fabrication  business with a base in Geelong, Victoria, that gives Aboriginal people and their communities real, long-term economic and employment possibilities. Craig Duncanson, the managing director, is a proud Bunurong man. The Bunurong people are from the South-Eastern Kulin Nation.

Craig has a wealth of experience that gives him great knowledge and insight into the challenges and successes of Aboriginal involvement and employment. His zeal for discovering and advancing possibilities for Aboriginal people has been fuelled by his working experience in the Northern parts of Australia. He has worked from Darwin to East Arnhem land, and everywhere in between.  Craig has worked and consulted extensively with Victorian Traditional Owners and Aboriginal communities over the past 25 years, offering both job possibilities and economic engagement.

Craig created Weld-Fab Custom to provide an opportunity to share his knowledge and skills of fabrication and boilermaking with the next generation of  young Aboriginals. Craig’s vision for Weld-Fab Custom includes having a range of work-experience opportunities and apprenticeships available for the local Indigenous people from the Geelong and Bellarine areas

What makes us different:

Company Design and Meaning

Craig Duncanson is the first to admit that he is no artist; but when he had the vision for Weld-Fab Custom, he wanted to make sure the logo was a true representation of the company’s story. Craig designed the logo for Weld-Fab Custom. The symbol he designed is a representation of the main material in use (metal) and how it was formed from the land.  It is a visual representation of the final product of the metal being welded, which is the colour of a flame (red and yellow), whilst the blue represents the marine and fresh water. Those colours represent the chemical reaction of iron and oxygen. The round design represents the earth; from the black core of the iron ore, to the red land we live on, which is then surrounded by the fire and water in between.
